Implant-Supported Crown
Among the solutions available to replace missing teeth, implants are an advantageous choice. In addition to their high stability and natural appearance, they offer great versatility, allowing one or more teeth to be restored at the same time. When a single tooth is missing or there are only a few teeth missing and they are far apart, implant-supported crowns are the best option: they offer a natural and comfortable result that restores the full function of your smile!
WHAT IS AN IMPLANT-SUPPORTED CROWN?
It is a replacement tooth (the crown) placed on an implant, i.e. a metal rod inserted into the jawbone to act like a natural root.
In addition to perfectly imitating natural teeth and creating an optimal aesthetic result, implant-supported crowns offer many functional advantages:Preservation of surrounding teeth: Not only does the implant prevent the surrounding teeth from shifting, but they do not need to be prepared as is necessary when placing a dental bridge.
- Increased comfort: The dental implant keeps the replacement tooth very stable, which helps with chewing. In addition, the crown can be cleaned normally as part of your usual oral hygiene routine.
- Bone stimulation: Since it integrates with the jawbone, the dental implant stimulates it, limiting bone loss.
- High durability: When properly cared for, implant-supported crowns can last for many years, even decades.
HIGH-PRECISION CROWNS
At Clinique Poirier, your Valleyfield dentists offer two types of crowns: traditional crowns, which are manufactured in a laboratory, and CEREC crowns. The latter are manufactured in the clinic using state-of-the-art equipment. To do this, the dentist first scans your mouth using a 3D camera, then sends the resulting model to a computerized robot that cuts the shape of the tooth out of a block of ceramic.
Feel free to discuss these options with your treatment team.

THREE KEY FEATURES OF IMPLANT-SUPPORTED CROWNS
- Aesthetic restoration
Crowns are made from materials that perfectly replicate natural teeth. Placing them on an implant ensures they are stable and fit precisely. This means they blend in perfectly with your smile.

Implant-supported crowns can last for over 20 years. The implant that supports them is permanent and does not need to be replaced if it breaks or becomes loose.
