This is to keep the tooth alive until you can get emergency dental care. This will make it easier to recover and\/or repair the tooth. If it is a natural tooth, it is recommended to keep the piece in optimal conditions, ideally in sterile saline solution (available at pharmacies) or in milk. The dentist will be able to assess the condition of the piece and whether it can be used to repair the tooth. It is important to seek treatment as soon as possible after the break, especially if you see a red spot or blood at the site of the break. The bleeding should stop after a while. You can also take a pain reliever (such as Tylenol or Advil) to relieve the pain. A warm compress applied to the face may also help.
