All-on-4 Implants
People who are completely toothless may experience effects on their daily lives, such as poor chewing, difficulty speaking, and poor dental health. Tooth loss can have many consequences for oral health. However, there is a very effective solution for replacing all of the teeth in a single jaw: All-on-4 implants. By installing just four implants, a full set of dentures can be fitted on the same day as the implant surgery. Thanks to this technique and the simplified process, patients can leave with a brand new smile as soon as the implants are in place.
The All-on-4 technique in implantology
When seeking to replace all of the teeth in the upper or lower jaw using traditional techniques, it is usually necessary to place 6 implants in the dental arch, or even more. With the All-on-4 technique, only four implants are used to support a complete dental prosthesis: two implants in a vertical position at the front of the jaw and two implants inserted at an angle at the back. To determine the correct positioning of the implants, the surgery is planned down to the smallest detail.
At Clinique Poirier Centre Dentaire, our dentists have access to 3D scanning technology. This technology provides highly accurate images of the jaws and all the structures of the mouth and skull. The positioning of the implants is then determined down to the millimeter.
The advantages of All-on-4 implants
- A new smile, the same day: the dental prosthesis can be fitted as soon as the implants are placed in the jawbone. There is no waiting period for the implants to heal.
- 4 implants are required: the All-on-4 technique reduces the number of implants needed to support a complete dental prosthesis. With traditional implants, 6 are usually required.
- No bone graft: in most cases with All-on-4, a bone graft is not necessary to restore sufficient volume to the jawbone before the implants are placed. This makes it an advantageous solution for people who have been missing teeth for a long time.
- A more economical option: since fewer implants are needed and a graft is not usually necessary before surgery, All-on-4 can be a more economical option than conventional implants.
- Natural-looking teeth: implants provide excellent stability and improved aesthetics for dental prostheses. With the All-on-4 technique, natural teeth can be replaced very effectively.

Am I a good candidate for All-on-4?
Certain conditions must be met in order to consider an implant treatment plan. In addition, health problems may be a contraindication to the placement of implants. To learn more, contact us and request an implant consultation in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. All-on-4 implants are generally suitable for people who meet the following criteria.
- A large number of missing teeth
All-on-4 implants are considered when all or almost all of the teeth are missing on the same jaw.
- Healthy gums
In order to ensure proper support for dental implants and their healing after surgery, the gums must be in very good health. In this regard, gum and periodontal disease must be treated beforehand.
- Non-smoker
Smoking can hinder the healing process of implants and interfere with their integration into the jawbone. It is therefore preferable to have been a non-smoker for several months.
